| These pre-filters are designed to trap large dust particles and extend the life of the more costly final filters. These filters are available in black or white color: the white color is for the lighter white and sandstone units and the black color is for the darker silver or black units. When properly maintained by vacuuming regularly, these pre-filters should last up to five years; however, many people replace these pre-filters on a more frequent basis to ensure optimum effectiveness.
