WHAT IS TRIOSYN RESIN?
Triosyn® resin is a unique iodine preparation that harnesses the germicidal power of iodine. At the same time, Triosyn® resin is designed to precisely control the delivery and dosage of free molecular iodine to harmful microorganisms, which minimizes any toxic effects to humans and the environment. Extensive laboratory testing demonstrates that Triosyn® resin quickly and effectively inactivates a broad spectrum of microorganisms on contact.
Triosyn® resin is an extremely versatile antimicrobial agent with applications in drinking water disinfection, paints and coatings, air filtration products, and medical devices, just to name a few. The Triosyn® resin family of products includes Triosyn® T50 (EPA Reg. 72897-1) and Triosyn® T50 Powder (EPA Reg. 72897-2).
HOW DOES TRIOSYN WORK?
Triosyn® resin is produced by thermally fusing pure iodine crystals under high pressure with a specialized polymer. During this process, a stable electrochemical bond is formed between the iodine and the polymer, allowing no free release of iodine in the media employed. This electrochemical bond serves as a demand-release mechanism that allows iodine molecules to be released from Triosyn® resin in the presence of demand-causing microorganisms and in amounts required to eliminate the source of the demand. Triosyn® is activated by the strong ionic charge of surface proteins that cover microorganisms and then interacts with organisms through ionic transfer. Upon contact with a microorganism, ionic molecular iodine is transferred from Triosyn® resin, to the more strongly charged surface proteins of the microbe. The iodine immediately devitalizes the microorganism by removing electrons from the organism's surface proteins which are necessary for life and reproduction.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
(as quoted from Triosyn literature)
Q: How do Triosyn® facemasks with Antimicrobial Product Protection differ from other disposable facemasks?
A:The Triosyn T-Series facemasks with Antimicrobial Product Protection trap potentially harmful airborne particulates just like traditional facemasks. The difference lies in the proven ability of the Triosyn T-3000™ facemask to trap biological agents throughout the life of the product. This is achieved through the antimicrobial action of Triosyn® T50 powder which protects the filtration media from microbial deterioration.
Q: What is the filtration efficiency of the Triosyn T-3000T™ facemask?
A:Triosyn T-3000™ facemasks are certified by NIOSH as having a 95% filtration efficiency for particles in the range of 0.3 micron. The T-3000™ is also labeled as a "P" level facemask meaning that it is "strongly resistant to oil". This rating is most useful if you are working in an environment where an oil mist may be present.
Q: The T-3000™ mask contains Iodine; has the T-3000™ mask been tested to determine possible hazards?
A: The Triosyn T-3000™ facemask contains Triosyn T-50 Powder as its active ingredient. Triosyn® T50 Powder is registered with the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA Reg. No. 72897-2). Before issuing a product registration, the EPA requires and reviews extensive test data that demonstrate the product can be used without posing harm to human health and the environment. Most importantly, Triosyn Corp. establishes exacting safety and performance standards for all of its products before offering them for sale.
Q: The Triosyn T-3000™ is listed as "fluid resistant"; does this mean that the facemask is waterproof?
A: The T-3000™ facemask has a fluid resistant outer layer made of a non-absorbent polypropylene fiber. This does not mean that fluids will be repelled, but that the outer layer of the facemask could come into contact with fluids without a negative impact on the integrity of the materials.
Q: What is the shelf life of the facemask in its foil packaging and out?
A: In its original packaging, the Triosyn T-3000™ mask has a shelf life of 48 months from the date of manufacturing. Please check the product packaging for the original date of manufacture. Once the packaging has been opened, the mask can be used continuously for 8 hours. Please discard the facemask and replace with a new one after 8 hours.
